3 Tips to Become a Bloggin’ Beast When You Are Scared to Start

I meet new people all the time.  You know in person or on social media and many of them have fears and insecurities about blogging.  I try to alleviate their fears because I feel as a community that everyone has a point of view and wisdom to bestow on others.

I know I don’t know it all and you don’t either but if we share information I think that is how we grow.  I decided to put together this little tip list from my blogging journey because maybe it will help someone out so they do not feel so scared about giving it a whirl.  So let’s dive in….. BEAST MODE style 😊

  • Kick Fear to the Curb

Many new bloggers are nervous, scared, feel they are inadequate to share their knowledge but like I said earlier you have wisdom of some sort that someone else doesn’t.  For instance, I feel I am pretty educated about depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and such because of 2 reasons, I’ve been through it personally as well as learned about it from reading umpteen articles and books in grad school.

However, if we are taking Excel spreadsheets or let’s say major tech stuff, I’m utterly lost.  Thank goodness my tech support is my 21 year old son.  Thanks James & love you lots 😊 but when he doesn’t pick up the phone I look at blogs for help.  Thank you sooooo much tech blogger guys!!!! YOU ROCK!!!

Let go of fear of the unknown and try to start an article that you are interested in because it is way easier to write about something you are passionate about and guess what, if you are passionate about it chances are you have knowledge about it.  Share your knowledge with others because you never know who you will help.

  • Start with a Word Doc & Use the K.I.S.S. method

I never start a post or article on a blog screen because I like to edit and make sure I spell things correctly so I use good ole’ Word.  It’s easy and most people are familiar with it.  Plus I don’t know if the internet goes down or something I just feel like I won’t lose what I have already created.  Typically when the main post is completed I will put it into Word Press and then most of the time edit it but I still have the main copy.

Others feel comfortable blogging straight on the site.  The way I look at it.  Do what you feel comfortable with because your success will come when you feel comfortable and let the words flow.

Also I feel it is important to use the KISS method in life and keep it simple on yourself.  When people start complicating things, frustration sets in which leads to insecurity and there you go, nothing gets done.

So just start writing good content and really you will find that it just starts flowing especially when it’s a topic you know.  You get into the blogging zone 😉 and before you know it you are at 500 words.  What I just started…. Well to put it into perspective this article to this point is 430 words.  So getting it over 500 is easy peasy.  Sometimes I have to cut it down because I get on a blogging roll.

  • Use Bulleted Lists or Short Paragraphs

I am a fan of lists or short paragraphs typically because most people skim articles on their phone right?  I do all the time…..sorry long writers but I typically only devote that kind of time unless I’m getting ready to fall asleep or have some significant down time.

I figure most people are like me because we all have busy schedules, kids calling you or the dog needing to go out.  I know you get this and I know that people don’t want to be bogged down by super technical blog posts that are way too long.  I find myself sometimes getting frustrated with them especially if there are a ton of ads popping up that I have to close out of to continue to read it….ugh……super annoying.

Well those are 3 short tips that can help you start your blog with confidence.  Blogging is fun and you meet a lot of great people.  Plus we want to hear what great things you have to share so please do not let fear stop you.  Go BIG…..GO BOLD & TOTALLY ROCK BEAST MODE in a blogging way 😊

Leave any comments below about any fears, anxiety or issues you may have about beginning.  I can help you or at least know a bunch of bloggers that could.

Also before I go, please follow the blog because I update it weekly with articles about mental health (my jam) as well as entrepreneur and blogging tips because I’m right there with you learning 😉  .
